Four Great Eye Make-up Looks

Easy, Effective Application Tips
To Give Yourself A New Look

Whether you want to look edgy, sultry, subtle or illuminated, there's a look here to suit your mood and personality!

No matter your age, mood, skill level or event, here are four different eye looks to suit you.

Basic Eye Make-up Tools and Products

You will need a few basic tools and products for each of these looks:

* Eye primer (prevents product from fading, smudging or creasing)

* Loose powder (for setting foundation and concealer, muting too intense/heavy eyeshadow colours and if you apply a heavy layer underneath your eyes, it will catch any fallen product making it easier to clean up afterwards)

* Eyelash curler (for creating a bigger, brighter eye and emphasizing your lashes)

* Mascara (for creating longer, thicker lashes)

* Eyelash comb (for combing through your lashes before and after applying mascara and for eyebrow grooming)

* Concealer (for concealing dark circles or discolouration)

* Highlighter (for highlighting the browbone and inner corner of the eyes)

An Edgy Eye Look

Perfect for Fall/Winter and a soft, but edgy look you can wear for work or play.

You will need:

* a sharpened medium grey pencil eyeliner

* a matte medium grey powder eyeshadow.

Technique:

1. Gently stroke the grey eyeliner pencil along your upper lid getting as close as possible to your lashline. You can vary the edginess of the look by extending the line out as far or as short as you wish.

2. With an angle brush, apply the eyeshadow powder in a line along your lower lashline, again getting as close as possible.

3. Clean the angle brush and use it to blend the product on both top and bottom lids into your lashline.

4. Curl your lashes and add two coats of mascara.

A Sultry Eye Look

Perfect for evening, this is a sexy, dramatic but uncomplicated “cat eye” look.

You will need:

* a medium grey or plum powder eyeshadow with a hint of shimmer

* a matte powder eyeshadow in a slightly deeper tone

* a black liquid eyeliner.

Technique:

1. Dust loose powder heavily beneath your eyes to catch any fallen product.

2. Apply the lighter of the two eyeshadows all over your eyelid, starting from the outside and working in. Clean your brush and then blend the colour into the crease to remove any hard edges.

3. Using a small eyeshadow brush, apply the same colour to your lower lashline, looking up into a mirror to get as close as possible. Clean the brush and blend until the line is softened.

4. With an angle brush, apply the darker eyeshadow to your upper lid as close to the lashline as possible and blending it up into the outer corner and crease in a gentle v-shape.

5. Apply the liquid eyeliner along your upper lashline, flicking it up at the end for a “cat eye” effect.

6. Curl your lashes and apply two coats of mascara.

A Subtle Enhanced Eye Look

Perfect for work or everyday and quick and easy to accomplish, yet it’s effective in enhancing your eyes.

You will need:

* a pale neutral powder eyeshadow in an off-white or taupe

* a medium neutral powder eyeshadow in a medium brown or grey

Technique:

1. Apply the lighter eyeshadow colour to your eyelid from the lashline up to the browbone.

2. Apply the darker colour to just your crease, blending it to avoid any hard lines.

3. Curl your lashes and apply two coats of mascara.

An Illuminated Eye Look

Perfect for any time, this look can be achieved with any eyeshadow colour as long as it’s shimmery.

For this look you will need:

* a pale shimmery powder eyeshadow. *Bright, medium or dark eyeshadow colours can also be used, but these colours should only be used up to the crease.

Technique:

1. With an eyeshadow brush or your finger, smudge the colour across your eyelid, including your browbone for a “wash” of colour.

2. Sweep the same colour along your lower lashline, blending to ensure there are no hard edges.

3. Curl lashes and apply two coasts of mascara for a wide-eyed sparkly look.
