MAC Disney Venomous Villains! My Haul in Pictures and a Video Review/Swatches!...

I'm so glad I was able to make it to the MAC Venomous Villains collection early release party. Being a total Disney fan (and always kind of having an obsession with the villains) I went for the idea of the collection... not for the actual products. I know, shame on me. But I ended up leaving with quite a bit and finding some great things! Here are pictures of what I purchased. Be sure to check out my video as well (posted below) for more in-depth info, swatches, etc. Enjoy!
-Tiffany

This collection was split between four Disney Villains: Maleficent, The Evil Queen, Cruella De-Vil, and Dr. Facilier. I didn't purchase every item from the collection. These are just the items that stood out to me.

...Yeah, so Dr. Facilier got no love from me. Had all the pigments, wasn't in to the "magic"-cooling-bronze loose powders. Those sound like a disaster waiting to happen with me. I was thinking about getting the Lipgelee with his full-body image plastered all over it, but I didn't want to buy it just to buy it...haha. Serious question though.... Where was Ursula and Jafar?? He wore eyeliner right? ...and Ursula liked her lipstick.

September MAC Collections!!

9.1.09

September '09
-9/10 - MAC in HD
-9/17 - Fall Trend Collection
-9/17 - Pro Colour Expansion Collection
-9/24 - Style Black
-9/24 - Zoom Fast Black Lash
-9/24 - Dazzleglass Cremes

September is going to be very different! As you'll see from my wishlists below, I'm quite intrigued by colors out of the norm. (black lipstick, etc) Not that I'd wear it everyday, but I love the artistic possibilities. Plus, with these collections you have to look beyond the typical use for these. Just because a lipstick is jet black doesn't mean that you apply it full on black, straight from the tube. Use it to alter the shade of another lipstick, or apply it sheer with a lipbrush mixed with another shade of gloss. The possibilities are endless. Much more exciting than the typical lipstick shades.
Here are my wish lists and thoughts on each collection:

9/10 MAC in HD

This collection seems (honestly) like MAC's way of jumping on the "HD" label bandwagon. ...without actually creating any new products. Or maybe they're just saying... "HEY! look, we've been HD all along!! ...uh, because we've always had these products...??" haha I dunno.
The Face & Body foundation is worth a try if you've never used it before. It's very unique. It's on the thin side, but it has buildable coverage and looks natural. It's a staple in my kit.
As for the lip colors, I'll have to see them in person. They sound like colors that are already in the permanent collection. Nothing too unique.

9/17 Fall Trend Collection
hmm...this collection is confusing. I dunno, aren't all the fall collections supposed to be "fall trend"? wow, I'm on a roll today...haha. Ok, enough with the smart comments. :) I just feel like these products could have been included with other collections. It's a fairly small collection, but aside from all my negative remarks, I honestly like the looks of most the products!

wishlist:
lipsticks: These are the two that look interesting, but I'll have to check out the others in person
-Faultlessly F/W
-Our Pick

lipglass: they all sound really unique
-Runway Fave
-New Berry
-So this Season

-Tone-Grey eye shadow quad (not the most unique looking, but I'm curious...definitely will swatch this one in person before purchasing)

9/17 Pro Colour Expansion Collection (Process Colour Collection)
...maybe it's my imagination, but I thought they had most of these colors in the permanent Pro line already?? Basically, they've chosen Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black to add to the permanent pro collection of chromalines, pigments, chromacakes, paintsticks, etc... Meh.

9/24 Style Black
This is the one worth saving for! (in my opinion, at least!) I may as well not even make a wishlist. I really want it all. I'm in trouble...

wishlist:
-Black Knight lipstick
As for the mattenes, I'll have to check them out in person. Never been a huge fan of them)
-All 3 Glimmerglasses. These look so fun!
With the Mineralized Eye Shadows, Young Punk definitely sounds pretty! I'll have to see them all in person though to decide.
-Greasepaint Stick in Intense Black- This is basically like a painstick-type product, but pointier I think....and leaves a shinier finish
-Baby Goth Girl nail polish- haven't seen any pictures, but I can only hope it's as pretty in person as it sounds...black with pink and purple pearl :)

The Volcanic Ash Exfoliator is back! I know lots of people swore by it last summer-- even buying multiples upon multiples of backups of the stuff. Not sure if I'll try it because I'm funny about trying new skin stuff, but I might see what all the hype is about.

About the Cream Colour Bases-- I have Bat Black, but it's definitely a color worth getting if you don't have it already (it's a pro color).

9/24 Zoom Fast Black Lash
Yay for a new mascara formula! Not sure if I'll try it right away because it's going to be permanent, but it seems like an amazing formula. Described as being very volumizing and super black. Sounds good to me!

9/24 Dazzleglass Creams
LOVE Dazzleglasses. Can't wait to try these. I'm not going to pick certain colors because I'll have to check them out in the store first before deciding.

Check out the collections for yourself :) What are YOUR wishlists? What are YOU most excited about? Share your thoughts in the comments below for a chance to win a Sigma travel brush set!

Winner will be announced Thursday, September 3rd. (No need to rush. The winner will be randomly selected on the 3rd)

August MAC Collections!

8.3.09

August '09
-8/20 - Makeup Art Cosmetics
-8/27 - Jin Soon Choi for MAC Nail Lacquer Collection
-8/27 - Flirt with Fall

August certainly holds some exciting things... I guess the collection I'm most excited about is the nail polish one-- Just because I think it's interesting that MAC is devoting a whole collection just to those, and they look amazing. However, most of you know of my little love/hate relationship with MAC nailpolishes, so I'm sincerely hoping that they have improved the formula for this collection. Of course, the Makeup Art Cosmetics collection looks exciting-- with the pretty colors and of course, the eye shadow quads (I'm a sucker for those). As for Flirt with Fall, I'm not too excited, just because it's false lashes and I don't really buy a lot of those for myself and my kit is pretty stocked with those. But if any interesting ones catch my eye in person, I might cave :)
Here are my little wishlists for the three collections in August:

Makeup Art Cosmetics:
It sounds like there will be some pretty lipcolors, but as always, I need to check those out in person first. The quads sound great--Except for In the Gallery, because it contains Lightfall, which in my opinion is one of MAC's most pointless colors. So even if the other colors in the quad are gorgeous, it will be hard for me to justify that one. I'm pretty much screwed where the individual eye shadows are concerned. Just because I LOVE eye shadows and I own only one of those already. So all the others are automatically on the list--unless they happen to suck in person. The bright colors of the technakohl liners have also seriously caught my eye... Saving begins now!

-QUAD: Photo Realism
-QUAD: Notoriety
-The Perfect Cheek blush
-Notable blush
-eye shadows: Crest the Wave, Off the Page, Haunting, Violet Trance, Maira's Magic
-Push the Edge pigment
-Technakohl liners: ALL of them, except for Graphblack

Jin Soon Choi for MAC Nail Lacquer Collection
-Dirty Martini
-For Fun
-Rich, Dark, Delicious
-Beyond Jealous
-Cool Reserve

(as of now, I'll probably skip the lash collection)

CONTEST ALERT!! Share your wishlists by commenting TO THIS POST. Don't worry! Take your time-- On August 5th, I'll select a random comment to win a Sigma brush set! :)

July '09 MAC Collection Details

6.25.09

July seems to hold some pretty exciting things (MAC collection-wise), AHEM AND it's my 25th
birthday!! (July 16, ya know, for those wondering)

So I decided that it would be so stupid to basically rip off other people's information (even if I posted the source, it would be THE SAME information -- just unnecessary) by posting the typical "MAC Color Story" Information for each collection. So instead, I'll link you to the places where I get my information! But I'll outline the collection names and release dates of course :) Then at the bottom of this post, I'll work on my wish lists and initial thoughts about the individual collections. Sound good?? Awesome. :)
*You can also click the "Collections" link at the bar on top of my page for a big post that organizes the collections and my associated collection posts by month.

JULY '09:

Euristocrats2 (already released most places, so whatever)
7/09 Colour Craft
7/09 Graphic Gardens (Nordstrom)
7/09 Look in a Box (Nordstrom)
7/30 Baby Blooms

*****************************************************************************

Thoughts and wishes...

Euristocrats 2
One word..Dazzleglasses. That's my main excitement surrounding this collection. Usually collections centered around lip products really don't excite me much, but if dazzleglasses are involved, I'm there! I've yet to check this collection out in person, but I'm definitely planning a trip to MAC soon. OOO and Saint Germain is making a comeback! So if you missed out on that when it came out before, don't miss out on it this time! As far as products I'm eye-ing, it's mainly dazzleglasses, as you'd probably expect :)
Obviously, this may change when I see everything in person, but this is what I'm thinking...

My wishlist:

*Dazzleglasses:
Vie Veneto
Rue de Rouge
Euro Beat

*Costa Chic Lipstick (maybe)

(skipping the liners since they're all permanent)

Colour Craft

EEK! SOOO excited for this one! Mostly because of the MSF's and one brush in particular! I'm also THRILLED that the 226 brush is being repromoted with this one. I only got one when it was released with Brunette, Blonde, Redhead. I definitely could use a few extras :)

My wishlist:
*130 BRUSH!!! (maybe 2 or 3) This brush looks amazing...
*extra 226
*MSFs: (in a perfect world, I'd get all 6...we'll see what happens!)
Triple Fusion, Porcelain Pink -- those are the two shades that I think are most different from what I've already got and what will work with my skin, but I've really got to get my hands on the darker shades for my kit!
*Eye Shadow:
Assemblage, Girlish Romp, Natural Flare, Fashion Patch
*Lipstick:
Colour Crafted

Not sure about the blush...I'll have to see those in person!
About the lipgloss...not a fan of the "mixed up" colors...they look used :X

Graphic Gardens / Look in a Box (Nordstrom's exclusive collections)
For some reason, the Nordstrom collections never excite me much. These aren't really any different. The Graphic Gardens eye shadow palettes definitely look pretty, but I'll be surprised if I end up buying any of them. Nothing really different or exciting. However, if you are starting your collection and need brushes, eye shadows, or lip products, I would consider checking this stuff out! You can get so much more for your money by purchasing these special sets!
For now, planning on skipping both.

Baby Blooms

Ok, this is exciting to me! At first, I wasn't that into it, but after seeing more about the lip products, I'm SUPER excited!! I always get really excited about new foundation/skin products as well!

My wishlist:
*Studio Moisture Tint SPF15- Medium (not 100% about the shade, I'll have to test it in person)
*Sun Tints (lipgloss) SPF15- I WANT THEM ALL!! but to pick a few:
Just a Smidge, Moist Plum, Pink Tinge

New MAC Style Warriors Goodies! (and swatches)

So happy that I checked out this collection in person. I had made a little wish list in my head of items I thought I wanted for sure, but when I saw them in person, there were different things that caught my eye. Especially with the lip and nail colors.
I thought the boxes were super cute...the actual packaging on the products?? Eh, not so much. But I love the lipglass packaging for some reason with the animal print on the top of the wand. Even though it's, well, a little tacky...haha. Anyway, here's what I got!

I picked up two of the eye shadows, Bright Future and Night Maneuvers. I already had Vibrant Grape (it's permanent in the pro line) and Tempting. I thought the light golden shade was similar to Nylon and Solar White so I skipped that. While I think the Night Maneuvers is very similar to other browns I own, like Mystery or even Brun, I caved and got it anyway since I'm a sucker for good dark cool browns. I picked up two of the On a Mission beauty powder blush just because as you probably have heard me say before...I LOVE BEAUTY POWDER BLUSH!! (not to be confused with Beauty Powders...TOTALLY different thing...see my FAQ section of my blog). Anyway, I wanted one in the packaging for me and one to depot for my kit. Just because I love the color SO much.
For the bronzers, I picked up Refined Golden only. I love Solar Riche, but I have a good bit of my other one left. But who am I kidding... It's a limited edition shade, so I'll probably pick up a back up eventually.
About the nail polish... I had only planned on getting the purple shade and the light cream shade. In person, the lightest shade looked like an OPI shade I already have and the bronze shade (mercenary) which appeared kinda boring in pictures, was gorgous...much brighter and with more shimmer than I had thought. So I had to get that one too.
I was also expecting to get the Brave New Bronze lipstick. When I saw it in person, I wasn't too thrilled with it. It was kinda plain. So I really only liked Purple Rite...SUCH a gorgeous color. But somehow, in all the mix of getting the other stuff, it didn't make it into my basket :( Oh well. I'll have to go back for it later. I LOVED the lipglass shades. Especially Fierce and Fabulous. That's the only one I got. It reminds me of my beloved Star Nova lustreglass, but more opaque. I skipped everything else. Just because I really have always disliked the Solar Bits (the formula is just messy, weird and unnecessary). I also wasn't too thrilled with the lustre drops. Seemed like any other highlighting/bronzing formula like that I have already. But I really do love what I ended up with!

Here are some swatches... I swatched other colors I already owned from the collection as well.

Eye Shadow
Night Maneuvers, Tempting, Vibrant Grape, Bright Future

Beauty Powder Blush
Eversun, On a Mission

Bronzing Powder
Solar Riche, Refined Golden

Lipglass, Fierce and Fabulous

Nail Polish: Violet Fire, Mercenary

*I'll post swatches of the nail polish shades soon :)

Dazzleglass-y Goodness

My Dazzleglass Collection...so far :)
l-r: Sugarrimmed, Goldyrocks(LE), Baby Sparks, Bare Necessity, Smile, Rags to Riches, Money Honey, Funtabulous, Miss Dynamite(LE)**, Date Night
*Miss Dynamite actually was not released in Double Dazzle, but was a LE shade from a previous collection*

So as some of you may already know, most MAC stores and counters have released the Double Dazzle collection early. The release date was originally set for April 30th I believe. As far as I know they should be available online on the 28th. In addition to some of the older shades we know and love, this collection introduces 7 new colors as well. I purchased 4 from this new release and am planning on going back for the other 2 LE shades I didn't get- Utterly Posh and Stop! Look! (there were 3 total LE shades, I purchased the other-Goldyrocks). And now for your viewing pleasure...the swatches!

l-r: Sugarrimmed, Goldyrocks(LE), Baby Sparks, Bare Necessity, Smile, Rags to Riches, Money Honey, Funtabulous, Miss Dynamite(LE), Date Night
